Dispatches from Fort Awesome: A NewsRadio Podcast has been discussing the classic 90s sitcom NewsRadio since 2016 with the likes of Vicki Lewis, James Burrows, Khandi Alexander, NewsRadio creator Paul Simms and dozens more. On Tuesday, July 2 they’re releasing their 100th episode, a special staged reading of a NewsRadio script that never completely made it to air – only one of the storylines survived. Episode 100 features the show’s hosts and new actors cast as modern versions of the characters originated by the likes of Dave Foley, Maura Tierney and Stephen Root. Chris Marcil, co-writer of the episode in question, acts as the narrator.
Dispatches from Fort Awesome episode 100 features Haley Sims as Beth, Alex Salem as Jimmy James, Eric Feltes as Matthew, Milan Carter as Joe, Natasha Younge as Catherine, Co-Host Allen Rueckert as Dave, Co-Host Jen as Lisa and Co-Host Jason Klamm as Bill McNeal, with a special guest appearance by producer Todd Spider Chambers after the reading. Allen, Jen and Jason have been fans of the show since its original run from 1995 to 1999, and now count the cast and crew of NewsRadio among their listeners. They wanted episode 100 to be a fitting tribute to their favorite sitcom, and something special for fans of both the sitcom and the podcast.
